Cracking the Code

Empower yourself with the knowledge to decode the highly secretative college scholarship process.

The First Steps
The more time you can put into your scholarship process, the more options you will have.  You'll need
time to research scholarships, request information and application materials, and complete your application.  So let's get going!

There are a few pre-scholarship steps that help build the most complete scholarship package making your package shine and stand out from the crowd.

Finding Free Money  A college scholarship is literally money in the bank.  There are potential pots of gold nearly everywhere. Start you search with internet scholarship websites, the library, your school, community organizations and your employer.

Stand Out From The Crowd with your Personal Statement (resume), writing essays (creating reusable application materials) and organization (organizing your files, gathering high demand materials such as letters of recommendation, transcripts and other valuable reference material).

Written By A Parent for parents, answers one of the most common questions I get as ScholarshipMOM, "How much should I help my student with scholarships"?  I'll explain the resonable amount of parental involvement needed during these frenzied pre-college times.

Insider Information is a new page based on gleaned information from years of working with high school and college counselors, college financial aid officers, successful scholarship winners and scholarship providers.  Funding that once seemed arbitrary and secretative can now be decoded by ScholarshipMOM readers.
